Floral Elephant

Elephant painting on wood. Niya Christine. Copyright

#80/365 Paintings

The flowers really love this elephant. Her skin is to flowers what flypaper is to flies. She doesn’t mind. She surmises that flowers have the right to love whomever they like. What she doesn’t know is how gosh darn pretty she is. ; D

Project notes: This is my first painting on wood. It was wild. Sanding and dabbling, painting, inking, charcoaling until it was right.

“What she doesn’t know is how gosh darn pretty she is.” …my heart feels papered in flowers right now. It is art that returns our beauty to us in tact when once we were convinced it was lost or shattered or irreparable. Thank you for calling us back, Niya and Floral Elephant! I intend to bring forth my inner bouquet today! : )

This is the best thing anyone has ever said to me about art’s instrument to the human condition. You made my day beautiful woman!
